Catching Up

Just a few pictures from the last week of school (the week before Memorial Day). Debbie and Chip came to visit, and shop! One of the cool gifts Aunt Debbie gave Gordon was this egg, that hatched, to a "baby alligator"...it fit so well with a new book I'd just bought for Gordon "Zach's Alligator" where the boy puts an alligator key chain in water and it turns into a real alligator...thankfully this one just turned into a rubbery toy, but he sure loved watching it "hatch" over the 3 days. Gordon had a big end of school program - I have lots of video, but only a couple of pictures. I was so proud of how well he sang and did the hand motions. He especially liked the song "Going on A Bear Hunt" I can't believe he is going to be five this year...ugh.

First Day of School 2009

yeah so he went to the same school half of the summer and thanks to my unemployment, his last day was this same week...but we had to start the first day of school picture tradition somewhere... I have to admit, I do love having him at home - most days. I just wish the school had room in the 3 hour per day program for him, that would have been ideal. But we're keeping busy with fun stuff and he's hopefully learning a bit from it too.

Goodbye to Dayschool and Hello to Homeschool

Back on March 20th G had his last day of dayschool thanks to S and I both being laid off.
Saying goodbye to Ms. S
And to Ms K
He got up too early, and fell back asleep on the sofa, one of the perks of not having to rush off to school
Goofball! This was at the beginning of potty training after his last day of school - it took less than a week once we had him home with us and within 2 weeks he was totally potty trained, no accidents, now he even goes on the regular potty for everything - and here I was stressed because potty training was off to such a late start - he took to it so fast once Mommy & Daddy had time to focus on it!
My wild child has discovered the joy of getting the beater with the cookie dough!

Gordon's Christmas Program

Gordon's school Christmas program was Thursday. It isn't a church affiliated school but they do say a blessing before eating and they pleasantly surprised us when the start of the program was the children doing a nativity - it was an actual CHRISTmas program and not a "holiday program"! Each child did wonderfully and then we all sang Silent Night - then they left the "stage" and returned sans costumes but with the addition of sleigh bells and sang a couple of songs for us parents who were behaving like the paparazzi following Brittney Spears into a coffee shop! The cameras were plentiful as were the "awwww's" coming from the audience. Maybe I'm just a hyper-emotional Mom but seeing my little blue eyed boy dressed as a shepherd in his first Nativity scene caused pools of tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat.

He was not about to get too close to Santa, even with encouragement and the promise of a present. So this was our only Santa visit this year.
